SUAP-03 - ECPG-IPSF-YPG: Humanitarian Pharmacy Hackathon*

Introduction

The session is only accessible students who are registered for the IPSF-ECPG Students and Early Career Pharmacists’ Package (S&ECP). 

Humanitarian emergencies impact millions of people every year, from natural to human-made disasters, entire populations face displacement, health threats, hunger, and poverty. Pharmacists are an important part of the preparedness, response, and recovery of emergencies, supporting the health logistics, dispensing, and support to those affected.

In this hackathon, we will explore the humanitarian emergency of Nigeria – The participants will be able to roleplay as FIP or the Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria (PSN) in a realistic case based on the humanitarian response plan. The hackathon will bring the ideas from the participants for projects that could support the people on the field, with the support from professional humanitarians, and representatives of both FIP and PSN.

As the first of this kind, the humanitarian hackathon will happen following the outline:

  5. Teamwork
  6. Presentation
  7. Debriefing

The specialist committee, who will support with the development, is composed of:

  • Ms Eiko Kobayashi – Japanese Red Cross
  • Mr Rúben Viegas – International Pharmaceutical Federation
  • Mr Peter Ndiana-Abasi – Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria

The organising committee is composed by:

  • Flynn Swift – IPSF president, Australia
  • Mr Lucas Ercolin – ECPG-MEPS liaison, Brazil
  • Mr Manvikram Singh Gill – MEPS member, Malaysia
  • Ms Sherilyn Wong – ECPG chairperson of public relations, Australia

They will ensure that pharmacists from all backgrounds can engage with their ideas and the will to provide a health that leaves no one behind.
